If the name AES Food Equipment isn’t yet familiar to you then try Abattoir Equipment Supplies. This was the name before Managing Director, Kyle Savage, re-branded the company at the beginning of the year in recognition of their butchery product range and much wider industry appeal.
Based in Clevedon, Bristol, AES Food Equipment may be a new name they are far from a new company. Cliff Savage, Kyle's father and a veteran of the meat industry for over forty years, managed a similar company. Kyle set up the existing AES Food Equipment a decade ago, Cliff retired from the industry in 2018.
The company is long established in the abattoir industry for their range of all species abattoir equipment but today are even better known for their meat rail systems, for which they provide a bespoke design and installation service.
Using the founding principles of Trust, Quality and Value, under Kyle’s leadership, AES Food Equipment are also now fast becoming trusted suppliers to the butchery trade, supplying everything from sausage fillers, bowl cutters, tray sealers and mincers to knives, gloves and everyday butchery essentials.
Being a family business, building a solid reputation and providing personal service is vitally important, Kyle says, not least to respect his father’s legacy for which he feels ‘lucky’ to have inherited. He says that AES Food Equipment isn’t about selling the most expensive piece of equipment or making the biggest margin, but rather it’s about ‘finding the right product for the right person’.
‘I’ve replaced some equipment my father installed many years ago and I’d like to think that in the future my kids might be replacing some of the equipment I’ve installed. We’re generations working with generations.’
Kyle Savage, Managing Director of AES Food Equipment
Kyle has taken this ethos forward in the careful selection of the manufacturers he works with. He says the majority of his suppliers, even the larger ones, are by intention family firms as they understand customer service better and are more invested in the quality of their products.
One such company is AK Ramon, a Spanish based manufacturer of mincers, mixers and bowl cutters. Kyle works directly with the owners, who themselves are the son and daughter of the original owner. Companies such as AK Ramon, he says, share his vision of developing long-standing relationships with customers and as such offer excellent and fast after sales support if it’s ever needed.
The company have a new website which is kept updated with their latest product range. Customers can order direct from the website but Kyle says that he, or a member of his small team, are always happy to talk directly to customers if they prefer so they can personally make sure the equipment or product they want to order fits their needs best. For larger pieces of equipment Kyle always offers a site visit.
